Cindy WOD
20 minutesAMRAP:
5 Pull ups
10 Push ups
15 Squats
Total: 18 rounds and 4 pull ups
# of PLU: 94
# of PU: 180
# of SQT: 270
When I started the routine, I had a goal of 20 or better when I started this. I felt confident as I approached the 8 minute mark and had just completed my 10th round. Around 12 minutes I was completely gassed and had to internalize a lot of the annoying muscle pain. I almost hurled at round 15. Once I saw that I had only three minutes left, I felt compelled to kick it into high gear…unfortunately, I couldn’t find the “high gear.” My arms were wobbly, I kipped just about the whole time after round 5 on the pull ups, the only thing that stayed strong were my legs.
This was an awesome workout. Again, it only lasted about 25 minutes from finish to start and it smoked me. Of course, as I always mention with these workouts, it’s what you put into it.
3-2-1….GO!
I dig Cindy!
ReplyDeleteI assume the squats were body-weight squats, nothing on the shoulders or in the hands, and deep squats bringing legs below parallel to the ground, probably bumping ass-to-heels. I always called these "catcher squats," because it's what I'd do when I played catcher in baseball.
Yes/no?
Cindy's beautiful because you can do her in any gym in the world, or even at the playground, using the monkey bars for your PUs.
Sick, eh.
I've used the monkey bars quite a few times, a grown man humping up-and-down and grunting and kicking his legs and looking nowhere near as strong as that gaggle of eight year old girls laughing at him.
I'm gonna throw in a Cindy next week. As always, though, I'll probably pull out prematurely.
Get it?

ReplyDeleteYes, bodyweight squats. Not necessarily butt to heels on these, but you do go below parallel. CF has a movie file on proper sqauting technique.
The nice thing about workouts like Cindy and Barbara is that you can literally do them anywhere you can grab a pull up bar. I did these right outside the company area where we have pull up bars.
Thanks for the input!
I did Cindy yesterday. I got to 10 before I bailed out. I was doing 12ea of PU, PLU, SU, and SQ. I used dumbbells and the lat pulldown, though, mostly owing to shoulder injury that makes both bodyweight exercises painful.
ReplyDeleteShe's nice! I could barely walk up the stairs this morning.
Today I did a martial arts routine where I went 10 rounds of front kicks x 10 each leg, 10 punches each arm in a deep stance, SU, and throwing the medicine ball above my head, and laying on my back and throwing it away from me.
Fun, mobile workouts!
Tomorrow is strength day.
